Ski/Board to Run Transition

Each competitor will be required to have at least one support person present at Tūroa base area to collect their ski/board equipment after the transition. Support people will be responsible for collecting all equipment left on the mountain. Support people will only be allowed to leave Tūroa Base Area when the Event is completed and the road has been checked and reopened to the public. Freddie’s Bar & Restaurant/the Alpine Café will remain open for support people and spectators until the mountain road reopens.

Bike

There are a couple of very steep sections that require athletes to slow down, in particular Rimu Hill, at the 7.4km mark. These sections will be marked with cones. As athletes pass under the railway bridge at the bottom of the mountain road, they need to slow down before rounding the left-hand corner to Thames Street, dismounting in the final transition zone and racking their bikes. Event officials will be on hand to assist with the bikes.

Race Finish

Competitors then sprint the length of Thames St. to the turn point, around the cones and into the Powderkeg carpark. The beverage scull (beer or lemonade) must be completed and the empty vessel tapped on the table before a finishing time can be recorded.

Prize-giving & BBQ

The Awards presentation and BBQ will be held at the Powderkeg Restaurant & Bar from 6:30PM. BBQ tickets are included in the entry for all competitors and extra tickets will be available to purchase below. There are lots of great prizes to be won thanks to our wonderful sponsors so don’t miss out.

Accomodation

Make a weekend of it and stay the night at Powderhorn Chateau, Ohakune. This will be the place to be with music and drinks in the car park for the finish line followed by the BBQ and prize-giving.
